JIŘÍ ROŽEŇ DEBUTS IN JAPAN

Following on from a number of important European debuts in 2018/2019 season, Jiří Rožeň sets foot in Asia conducting Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra in a Nordic themed programme featuring works by Stenhammar, Grieg and Nielsen on 8 June.

Jiri will be back to Asia in September, this time for his Chinese debut with Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra at the Nanjing Forest Festival.

Other highlights of the upcoming season include London debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as well as appearances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Belgique, Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, Antwerp Symphony and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Jiří Rožeň debuts with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra

Following his debuts with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales earlier this season, Jiří Rožeň debuts with the Gothenburg Symphony, bringing to life Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf in a series of concerts between 19 – 23March. Boosting his presence in Scandinavia, Jiří returns to the region to work with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra this coming August.

Jiří Rožeň and Esther Yoo debut with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra

Jiři Rožeň and Esther Yoo make their joint debut with Oulu Symphony Orchestra with a concert on 28 February. Together they perform Glazunov’s Concerto in A minor, which Esther recorded for Deutsche Grammophon in 2015. In the second half of the concert at Madetoja Concert Hall, Jiři brings Dvořák Symphony No.7 from his home country.

Jiří Rožeň debuts with Ulster Orchestra & BBC NOW

Jiří Rožeň makes important UK debuts conducting Ulster Orchestra in their lunchtime series, and later on with BBC NOW at St George’s in Bristol.

In an all-Czech programme in Belfast, Jiří will be featuring works by Dvořák, Suk and Kabeláč. In Bristol, Jiří will begin with works by Smetana and Dvořák, before joining the forces with the Ukranian violinist Aleksey Semenenko who recently joined the prestigious BBC New Generation Artist programme.

Both performances follow successful debuts with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and BBC Philharmonic earlier this season.

Jiří Rožeň conducts all-Janáček programme at composer´s birthplace

Jiří Rožeň returns to Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava co conduct an all-Janáček programme featuring iconic Sinfonietta and Taras Bulba. As a conclusion of the Janáček Year and Janáček Marathon Festival in Ostrava, the concert will also mark 100th anniversary of an independent Czech Republic. 

After successful debuts with the BBC Philharmonic and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin earlier this autumn, Jiří’s highlights of the 2018/19 season include appearances with Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra.

Jiří Rožeň kiks off the season with the exciting debuts and return to the Czech Philharmonic

Starting in Manchester, Jiří Rožeň conducts the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in a studio concert featuring works by Dvořák, Mahler and Martinů, as well as the BBC New Generation Artist bass-baritone Ashley Riches. The concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

The following week Jiří travels to Prague to work with the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra with whom he will explore a Czech-Scottish programme presenting 20th century music from both countries. Finally, on 7 October Jiří appears with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in a family concert celebrating Leonard Bernstein and his Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.

Jiří Rožeň debuts with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra

Czech conductor Jiří Rožeň debuts with the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra in a big open-air summer concert in Zagreb this week. With a programme featuring Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, Dances from Galanta by Kodályi as well as a selection from Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Jiří brings to life the heart of Zagreb’s old town. The concert will be broadcasted live on the Croatian Radio and its YouTube channel.

Jiří Rožeň continues to establish himself on the international level and this autumn will see his debut with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, as well as returns to the Czech Philharmonic and the Czech Radio Symphony orchestras.

Jiří Rožeň debuts with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra

On 12 February, our recent signing, Czech conductor Jiří Rožeň reappears in the iconic Rudolfinum in Prague following his successful subscription debut with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. A tribute to the late, world famous Czech harpsichordist Zuzana Růžičková, a very special programme features Stravinsky’s Symphonies of Wind Instruments as well as Concerto for Harpsichord and Strings by Viktor Kalabis performed by soloist Mahan Esfahani, and Leoš Janáček’s splendid Glagolitic Mass. The concert will be broadcast live by Czech Radio and its EBUpartners in Denmark and Spain (Catalunya Ràdio). Also Deutschlandradio Berlin (15 Feb), as well as public radio stations in Sweden, Serbia, Croatia (30 April), Romania, Poland and Bulgaria will broadcast the concert later this year.

Czech conductor Jiří Rožeň signs to Harrison Parrott

Harrison Parrott is delighted to welcome conductor Jiří Rožeň to its roster for general management. 

Described as one of the most exciting and promising conductors of his generation, this season Jiří embarks on an ambitious international career, debuting with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Bruckner Orchester Linz, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and Wiener Concert-Verein on tour at Musikverein in Vienna and Kölner Philharmonie. His recent and upcoming artistic collaborations include working with Kirill Gerstein, Vadim Gluzman, Olga Scheps, Tamsin Waley-Cohen and Mahan Esfahani. 

A passionate advocate of Czech music, Jiří regularly conducts not only standard works from Czech repertoire, but also new music and lesser-known works by his prolific compatriots. His programmes often include music by Josef Suk, Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů, Miloslav Kabeláč and Viktor Kalabis.
